A SMALL BOAT

ABOUT THE MODEL

I developed this model in June 2023. It is a simple one. I recommend using thick paper to allow wet-folding.

STEPS

(If you are using your phone to view this page, you'll see the images below better in landscape orientation.)

a_small_boat_1Start with a rectangular sheet of paper.
a_small_boat_2Make alternating mountain and valley folds.
a_small_boat_3Fold into an accordion shape.
a_small_boat_4Get the center, unfold.
a_small_boat_5Towards one side (from the center) fold the model into a C shape.
a_small_boat_6Repeat on the other side.
a_small_boat_7Unfold.
a_small_boat_8 a_small_boat_9Convert all the zigzags formed in step 5 and 6 into mountain folds. You'll notice that the boat is slowly taking shape. Continue reinforcing the mountain folds.
a_small_boat_10 a_small_boat_11Notice that once a mountain fold crosses a zigzag, it changes to a valley fold; and a valley fold becomes a mountain fold.
a_small_boat_12 a_small_boat_13Push the three central mountain folds downwards.
a_small_boat_14 a_small_boat_14_5Spray some water in the regions circled and tie with a rubber band/clip. Allow it to dry.
a_small_boat_15Done.
